Topic: Unity In Christ [Saturday, 22nd April 2017]

And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand. Matthew 12:25

In Matthew 12:2, the Pharisees posited that Jesus cast out devils by Beelzebub, the prince of the devils. Then Jesus went on to explain to them that if Satan cast out his own devils, he divides his own house. We well know that when a family is in disunity, they usually can’t agree against a common enemy,  because they would be too busy trying to outsmart themselves, and prove each other wrong, and before they know it, the common enemy gains ground and brings them down.

In Christendom today, Christians are so busy trying to prove whose church is the best, that they fail to see and recognize the attacks of the devil against the church. And even if/when they see and recognize them, they’re too busy deciding which Pastor or General Overseer will fight against it, that their spotting of such attacks become a waste. 1 Corinthians 12:12-14 says, “for as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many.” When we read this passage, we read it only in relation to spiritual gifts. But it also applies to the umbrellas under which the members of the body of Christ meet to fellowship.

The Psalmist remarks in Psalms 133:1, “behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” And indeed we should dwell in unity, for “God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him” (1 Corinthians 12:18). Why then do we contend with ourselves? It’s time to come together as one and withstand the fiery darts of our common enemy. Although, we are diversified, we must put aside what we think differentiates us and find a common ground, to stand on, which is the foundation of Christ. We are first Christ’s before we became part of a denomination and Satan would not want us to see that because it strengthens us and weakens him. We are one united church of Jesus and together we shall do more for God’s kingdom.

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:

Dear Father, thank You for Your brilliant work of diversity. We’re sorry for contending against ourselves for so long. Help us to work in unity for the advancement of Your kingdom, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
