Topic: On The Cross [Friday, 14th April 2017]
And it was the third hour, and they crucified him. Mark 15:25
The cross is a very important part of the doctrine of Christ. The cross is of great significance to the life of Christ. Jesus Christ lived sorely for the cross. Everything He did in life was for the cross. Without the cross, the significance of the life of Christ would have been lost, for scriptures say about Him, “and she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).
It was on the cross that the salvation from sin and the consequences of sin was procured by Jesus. The consequences – wages – of sin is death (Romans 6:23). So Christ had to die to pay the wages of sin and He paid it in full. No man/woman, who look up to the cross for salvation will ever experience any form of death – for physical death is only one of the means of translation into the physical reality of God’s kingdom. As Moses lifted up the bronze serpent in the wilderness, which gave life unto those who had sinned, as they looked upon it, so also the cross of Jesus Christ gives life to those who look upon it for salvation.
At the cross, sin was swallowed up. At the cross, death was made of no effect. At the cross, forgiveness and justification was procured for us. His blood of eternal redemption was poured out and “being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him” (Romans 5:9). At the cross, the gift of God – eternal life – was presented to the world. And this gift is free. Oh that thou may cling unto to cross. Oh that thou may look, who have not looked, unto the cross. There is salvation and life for thee. On the cross!
Keep winning daily.
Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for going to the cross for me, and paying the wages of sin which I deserve. I will always cling to the cross and preach the cross to the world, for there lies life. Thank You once more for the cross, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
