DEFINITION AND CONCEPTS OF WORSHIP
- Worship is the acts and attitude of wholeheartedly giving ourselves to God – spirit, soul and body – “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service”. (Romans 12: 1 NKJV) “’And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment”. (Mark 12:30 NKJV).
- Worship is giving God what He wants and the way He wants it.
- Worship is an emotional expression of joy, through dancing, singing etc. the Hebrew word for worship is “PROSKUNEO” which means to prostrate or reverence. Worship is more fully understood, as an interrelation between divine action and human response to the self-revelation to the triune God. Anybody can be a potential true worshipper according to; “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John4:23-24 NJKV). Infact, the reason God is seeking for true worshipper is because, there are fake worshipper.
